Comparison of the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max with the OnePlus 12

Although it is not yet available, the OnePlus 13 is quickly approaching. Having said that, we are here to compare the top devices that Apple and OnePlus now have available: the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max and the OnePlus 12.

Since December of last year, the OnePlus 12 has been available for purchase. It has been around for a while, even though it arrived in international markets a little later than that. The Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max

Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max vs. OnePlus 12: Design

The designs of these two cellphones differ greatly. The OnePlus 12 has many curves and is composed of glass and aluminum. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is not quite as curved and is composed of glass and titanium. As a result, the OnePlus phone has a slim frame on the sides, a curved backplate, and a curved display. Although it does round up at the sides for comfort, the new iPhone flagship has a flat display, flat back, and flat frame throughout.

They feel completely different in the hand because of these variations. Although they are both slick, they feel different in the hand. Everything depends on personal preference. However, the OnePlus 12's shape makes it more slippery. However, you should probably use a case for both phones. The camera hole on the OnePlus 12's display is located in the middle of the screen. The so-called "Dynamic Island," a pill-shaped cutout, is notably larger on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The bezels surrounding the screens of both smartphones are extremely tiny.

Although their camera islands are located in the upper-left corner, they have a distinctly different appearance. The circular camera island of the OnePlus 12 is surrounded by a layer of metal that attaches to the side frame. The iPhone 16 Pro Max features a new camera configuration and a square camera island with rounded corners. They differ greatly even down to the buttons on their sides. On the right side of the OnePlus 12 are volume rocker controls and a power/lock button. On the left is a slider for alerts.

On the other side, the iPhone 16 Pro Max features a camera control button and a power/lock button on the right. The Action Button and the volume up and down buttons are located on the left. Although the OnePlus 12 is lighter and thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, it is significantly thicker and taller. For resistance to dust and water, that item has an IP65 certification. The IP68 certification is available for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max vs. OnePlus 12: Display

A 6.82-inch 3168 x 1440 LTPO AMOLED screen is part of the OnePlus 12. It has a flat panel with an adjustable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and it can project up to 1 billion colors. Theoretically, this display has a maximum brightness of 4,500 nits. But you'll never get that high. This display is protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which has a screen-to-body ratio of almost 90%.

In contrast, the iPhone 16 Pro Max boasts a 6.9-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display that measures 2868 x 1320. That panel offers an adjustable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and is likewise flat. Both Dolby Vision and HDR10 content are compatible. The screen to body ratio is around 91%, and the maximum brightness is 2,000 nits. The Ceramic Shield glass serves as protection, and the display aspect ratio is 19.5:9.

There is no doubting that both of these shows are excellent. Both of them offer excellent viewing angles, are sharp enough, and are vibrant. Additionally, the blacks are deep. Although the OnePlus 12 offers a little more in that area, both displays are more than bright enough. The iPhone 16 Pro Max's display lacks high-frequency PWM dimming, whereas the OnePlus panel does. if you are concerned about that. But generally speaking, you'll be pleased with either panel. Remember that one is curved while the other is not.

Performance Comparison of the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max vs the OnePlus 12

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 4nm CPU, powers the OnePlus 12. Here, OnePlus also made advantage of UFS 4.0 flash storage and up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. In contrast, the Apple A18 Pro, a 3nm processor, powers the iPhone 16 Pro Max. It uses NVMe flash storage and has 8GB of RAM. In case you were wondering, neither smartphone has the ability to expand storage.

Both of these cellphones have exceptional performance. These are some of the smoothest cellphones available. These two phones can accomplish whatever task you can think of on a daily basis without any issues. They are excellent at browsing, emailing, chatting, running and switching between different apps, processing images and videos, and more.

Both of these function flawlessly, even when it comes to gaming. They can smoothly run even the most taxing games. They both warm up, but it's not anything to worry about. They never become too hot to handle, or anything like. Additionally, as far as we can tell, any heat they generate has no effect on gameplay. Therefore, it's actually not that hard to suggest both of these phones based on performance.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max vs. OnePlus 12: Battery

With the OnePlus 12, a 5,400mAh battery is included. In contrast, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has an internal 4,685mAh battery. Because of the software changes, Apple's iPhones often have smaller battery packs than their Android rivals. However, the iPhone 16 Pro Max's internal battery capacity is more than sufficient. Actually, in terms of battery life, these two smartphones are among the top flagship models.

It is highly likely that most of you will finish the day without having to charge these two. That shouldn't be an issue, even if you're a power user. Of course, if you wind up playing games for extended periods of time or anything like, you can theoretically drain the battery early. But overall, they were able to withstand a great deal of heavy use. Based on our experience, it is possible to reach 7 or even 8 hours of screen time without experiencing many issues.

The OnePlus 12 outperforms the iPhone 16 Pro Max in terms of charging. 50W wireless, 10W reverse wireless, and 100W (or 80W in the US) wired charging are all supported. 38W wired, 25W MagSafe wireless, 15W Qi2 wireless, 7.5W Qi wireless, and 4.5W reverse wired charging are all available for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. It is true that the OnePlus 12 charges much more quickly. Both cable and wireless charging are covered by this. Additionally, unlike the iPhone 16 Pro Max, it comes with a charger in the box.

Camera Comparison between the OnePlus 12 vs Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max

Three cameras are located on the back of both of these phones. A 50-megapixel primary camera (1/1.43-inch sensor), a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera (114-degree field of view), and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (3x optical zoom) are all included in the OnePlus 12. In contrast, the iPhone 16 Pro Max boasts a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (5x optical zoom), a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 48-megapixel primary camera (1/1.28-inch sensor).

While the images produced by these two devices differ significantly, they both perform admirably. The Hasselblad influence is evident in the OnePlus 12's preference for more contrasted images. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro Max prefers to provide photographs with richer color tones. Although the outcomes vary, both devices perform admirably. It all depends on personal taste, even in low light.

While their ultrawide cameras are comparable, the iPhone 16 Pro Max often performs better when it comes to macro photography. It all depends on what you're trying to photograph, but most of you will probably choose the iPhone 16 Pro Max over other periscope telephoto cameras because of its higher optical zoom capability. For instance, we think the OnePlus 12 is a better choice for 3x and 4x shots. The cameras on these two phones are pretty good.

Sound
Both smartphones include stereo speakers as well. However, we really liked the sound emanating from the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which has slightly louder ones. Even while the OnePlus 12 is not far behind, it appeared a little more expensive.

There are no audio jacks on any smartphone. You must plug wired headphones into the Type-C port on both devices in order to use them. As an alternative, the iPhone 16 Pro Max supports Bluetooth 5.3, while the OnePlus 12 supports Bluetooth 5.4. (*)
