The latest AI model from Google is here to aid with your education
You can use Google's Gemini as an instructional tool to help you prepare for the test. But Gemini can be used for almost anything, making it the "Everything chatbot." For those seeking a more comprehensive educational resource, Google has a new model. Google refers to it as Learn About, and it has the potential to rival existing tools.
Whatever you think of Google's AI, the firm has been working hard to create tools that are more focused on educating than on cheating. For instance, Android Studio contains tools that teach programmers how to write code. Not to be overlooked is NotebookLM. This tool assists you in understanding the instructional materials you have uploaded. Not to be overlooked is the Audio Overviews tool, which transforms the media you provide into an instructional conversation akin to a live podcast.
Thus, Google's AI tools are heavily focused on teaching. Hopefully, other businesses will do the same.
Learn About is the name of Google's new AI tool.
Since this tool focusses on providing you with more textbook-style explanations for your queries, it should be quite self-explanatory. This tool will go above and above to provide you with more detailed explanations rather than just responses. Additionally, Learn About will give you additional background information about the topic and other educational resources.
Google accomplished this by powering this tool with an entirely different model. Ask About employs a model called LearnLM instead of the Gemini model. We don't really know much about this model yet, but we do know that Google led it more in the direction of academic solutions.
Gemini's response in contrast to Learn About's
We put it to the test by asking what pulsars are, and then comparing the response to the same question provided by Gemini. In a few paragraphs, Gemini provided a quite thorough explanation. Additionally, it copied the URL to a page at the bottom and grabbed a couple images from the internet. For someone seeking up a definition on the side, this is a helpful resource. Perhaps that individual isn't interested in learning the specifics of what a pulsar is.
One problem with Gemini's response was that it included a picture of a motorbike among the other images it pasted. An image of the Bajaj Pulsar 150 was pasted. Therefore, even though a motorbike is technically a pulsar, it is very different from the enormous, fast-spinning balls of superheated plasma that are located billions of miles away from Earth.
How about Learn About?
Learn About provided an explanation as well, but it was shorter and consisted only a few paragraphs. It compensates by creating more unnecessary content. In addition to images, it offered chips with commands like Simplify, Go deeper, and Get images (more on the chips below) and three links, one of which was a YouTube movie.
You'll notice options for further questions beneath the chips, which you can enter for more context. Finally, you'll see coloured blocks with more content in textbook fashion. For instance, there are blocks for "Why it matters" and "Stop & Think." (*)
