According to a leaked patent, HONOR may be developing a novel foldable tablet

The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, the company's first tri-folding smartphone, was released, marking a significant milestone for the foldable market. Since the launch, we've heard that other companies, like Honor, are developing a 10mm tri-folding smartphone to compete with Huawei's product. But the subject of this story is a fairly unusual gadget. According to reports, HONOR has submitted a patent application for a novel foldable gadget that has several unfolding modes.

According to HONOR's patent, the company may be developing a foldable gadget that can unfold and fold in various ways.

People at 91Mobiles noticed today that HONOR had submitted a patent for a novel foldable gadget. The foldable tablet, as seen in the patent image, has a unique folding and unfolding mechanism that sets it apart from the HONOR Magic V3 (Review).

The patent summary further demonstrates that the unique folding device has two or three pictures of rotating shafts. It is crucial to remember that each rotating shaft's near end is where the intermediate connecting components are located. These revolving shafts fasten to the foldable screen's rear in pairs, facing each other. Eventually, this enables you to unfold and fold the foldable gadget in various ways.
Whether the device will become a reality is uncertain.

There is no assurance that HONOR will introduce this product because it is a patent. It will be revolutionary and have the potential to upend the whole Android foldable market if it succeeds.

Given that Huawei once controlled Honor, it's really intriguing that Honor is taking on Huawei in this way. Since it was a low-cost sub-brand producing phones for less than $500, it has advanced significantly. We are confident that the company will continue to advance the foldable phone due to its current contributions to the market. The future of foldables may lie in this radical form factor.

HONOR is rumored to be showcasing this design at IFA 2025. We're hoping to see it then. (*)
