According to a tipster, Samsung may discontinue the standard Galaxy S26

This year, Samsung is restructuring its approach to product launches. The Galaxy Tab S10 series was unveiled by the firm with just Plus and Ultra models available as the base model. In 2026, Samsung plans to discontinue the base Galaxy S26 model as the next step in this line.
Only Plus and Ultra variants were available for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series.

On X, reputable tipster Ice Universe, who specializes in Galaxy smartphones, stated that Samsung is thinking of discontinuing the standard Galaxy S26. Thus, the South Korean behemoth would only provide Plus and Ultra versions, similar to the Galaxy Tab S10 series. The primary cause of the modification was the base Galaxy S devices' low level of competitiveness when compared to comparable devices made by major Chinese manufacturers.

The forthcoming OPPO Find X8 will be smaller than the current Find X7, according to a recent confirmation from an OPPO representative. It will also be slimmer, lighter, and have smaller bezels, making it a more compact gadget. This product is used by Ice Universe as an illustration of how Chinese manufacturers are introducing little phones that exclude the entry-level Galaxy S models from the competition. Products that excel in this area include the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 14.
They would be replaced by the Galaxy S FE smartphones.

The informant asserted that "you will realize that Galaxy S25 is no longer worth releasing." Although Samsung may not include a base Galaxy S25 model in the 2026 Galaxy S26 series, it will still produce one. The availability of the Galaxy S FE models, which provide many of the primary features of the main Galaxy S devices at a reduced cost, would be another factor. The availability of a base Galaxy S and a Galaxy S FE would be viewed by the corporation as somewhat redundant.

Furthermore, even more individuals favor a cheaper price than those who still appreciate a compact format. The Galaxy S FE variants cater to a market that often favors larger screens while meeting that assumption.

For some time now, Samsung has also been selling FE versions in the Galaxy Tab line. The corporation may have been able to abandon the FE model more easily because it was more popular and less expensive than the standard Galaxy Tab. The market success of the vanilla Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25 will probably dictate these phones' destiny. (*)
